Today was a very sad day for us as we attended the funeral of Bill, husband of my friend Betty who died just last year.
It was such a shock to hear Bill had also died. A wonderful couple, a true lady and gentleman. They always had a nice thing to say about everybody, never a bad word. Bill was 94 years of age, he always had wonderful stories to tell anyone willing to listen to him and he was very interesting to listen to believe me. The world is a sadder place without these two people in it. My heart goes out to their wonderful family.
Bill served in the Royal Navy not only under our present Queen but her father the King too. His life with Betty was an amazing one, they did so much I think a lot of people were truly surprised at the list David their son read out, I knew some of it not all though.
When the young Royal Marine Bugler played the Last Post …….. silence …….. Reveille There was not a dry eye in the chapel. So very moving a perfect tribute to Bill.
Stand easy Bill
