Sunday 7th September 2014, Clint had paid for tickets for Pete [birthday gift treat] myself and Rebecca, [Annette couldn’t come, work would not let her have day off boooo to them…] for us to see a very special thing. THREE LANCASTER’S. One would be on the ground taxiing whilst two flew over, our UK one and the one from Canada. I am going to post all the photos Clint and Rebecca took of that day. I loved it, brought a lump to your throat when those two flew overhead, so low and so graceful, and that sound. WOW. Thank you so much Clint for an amazing day. Historic of course as it won’t happen again in my lifetime.
These are the photo’s Clint took —
These are the photos Rebecca took —
Can you see these lucky people going for their Taxiing trip around the field….
Lots of people dressed up in the style of the Lancaster’s era, very moving some of them, Rebecca was quite smitten by this old couple, they were sweet. There was also a tribute concert throughout the day, was wonderful hearing Glenn Miller and the like.
Then in the fabulous Museum they have there I got Rebecca to take these photos for you CATE, thought you may be interested in them…
Folks if you get the chance to go to this place, I would urge you to visit, the stuff they have in the museum is amazing, I was stunned by it all, in fact although it is fairly small I didn’t get to see it all, so much to take in and when you see these engines and bombs close up, they take your breath away. It was a fantastic day and what an experience, THREE Lancaster’s on one day.
Next year Clint will be doing the taxiing in the Lancaster they have permanently at this site, it was his 50th birthday present. He is looking forward to it even more now. To book yours go to – www.lincsaviation.co.uk – it is an amazing experience even for those watching.
I hope you have enjoyed these photos as much as I enjoyed being a part of History.
